“Young Talents in Clinical Research” Support Program

A Message from the HUG Chief Medical Officer, Prof. Arnaud Perrier

The Swiss Academy of Medical Sciences and the Gottfried and Julia Bangerter Foundation are launching a joint support program called “Young Talents in Clinical Research.” It aims to help young clinicians gain their first experience in research thanks to funding for “protected time for research” and “project grants.”Very few funding offers exist for young doctors who wish to go into clinical research. Training the next generation in sciences is nevertheless vital for improving the quality of clinical research in Switzerland and ensuring it over the long term. This support program focuses on this first career step and helps implement the Roadmap for Developing the Next Generation of Clinical Researchers published by the Federal Office of Public Health in 2016.One million francs will be made available per year for the period 2017-2020, with one call for proposals per year at a minimum. The first application submission deadline is 30 June 2017. Grants may begin as early as January 2018.Applications must be written in English. Details on application format and submission can be found here: assm.ch/releve-recherche-clinique
